New to Nashville, New to Macs

Two things:

Since I've made the switch, I can obviously no longer use my beloved soulseek. Which p2p client would you recommend, which do you think is best?

Also, what livejournal mac communities do you like and which ones are the most trafficked?

ok so i bought a macbook pro about a month ago. Is there like some feature or button where you can turn off the keyboard, cause mine cuts out ALL the MF'n time and i'm wondering if there's some key i'm accidentally pushing.

thatforyou: Monster iCarPlay FM Transmitter?

Before I go and sell this on ebay, figure I'll test the waters here.

I bought a Monster FM transmitter for all iPods a couple months ago, but then I bought a new car and got ipod integration. SO!! Who wants a slightly used (MAYBE twice) Monster FM Transmitter. Nothing is wrong with it, it's just been sitting in my trunk. I bought it at Target for $80. I'd settle for $50.

PLEEEEAAASEEE buy it. I dont want to ship it off to anyone.

allisonfoley: ipod usb cord

hey all!

just joined here & new to nashville. i was wondering if anyone may have an extra ipod usb cord that they were willing to sell? i seemed to have lost mine & i think it's a little ridiculous that the replacements are $20. [but mostly, i'm just a poor recent college grad, haha.]

or, does anyone know about the icky looking generic ones they sell on ebay? i love my apple products, and i really don't think i could resort to even generic cords. but if someone has some feedback on them, i can try that route.

finally, has anyone taken their laptop in to get additional memory added? just wondering if there's been any positive or negative experiences with that.

thanks so much in advance!

Hi, my name is Conrad, and I now own an iBook G4. ("Hi Conrad.")

I'm an enterprise network manager in Hendersonville, live in Antioch, manage 200 Windows workstations, 50 Windows servers, 15 Macs, and an Xserve G5. I recently requisitioned a laptop, and was asked to choose between a Windows laptop or an iBook, and I went with the iBook.

I'm finding that I like and dislike parts of OSX in much the same way that I like and dislike Windows, but the Mac folks upstairs felt a bit neglected (none of them are willing to launch Terminal without a unix ninja present) and I really want to run Cubase and Reason on The One True Audio Platform, so yeah. I think I made the right choice.

dreaming_alone: Advice

My cat knocked a glass of wine all over my closed Powerbook (spare me the lectures, please). Anyway, the wine was cleaned up immediately and it appeared that none got into the actual parts of the computer. The Powerbook is working fine, except for one thing. When I shut it down, the hard drive keeps spinning until the battery runs out. I took it into the Apple Store today and they suggested that I pay $900 for a replacement logic. All of my "techie" friends are pretty much like "yea, you're screwed, there's no hope for you." I'm looking for some kind soul who might have a piece of advice, a suggestion, something a little more feasible that dropping another grand on this computer.

pendulous: MacAuthority iBook Sale

Pretty good deals on used iBooks.
Apparently they bought a bunch from a school.

Less than they're going for on ebay, even with the Airport card going separately.

I spent like 30 minutes properly organizing my itunes before putting them on my iriver. then instead of dragging my icon to the trash. i just disconnected.

Well I reformatted my iriver and after plugging my iriver back in to try again, my ibook g4 wont recognize it. I've restarted both components but i just cant figure it out.

any suggestions?
